Audrey Pribnow
5 Weeks at AIU London

Spending five weeks at AIU London was a great experience and opportunity. Not only did it open my eyes to a new and different culture, it also taught me about independence, communication and people in general. I took 2 classes -- History of London and Comparative Politics -- both of which taught me quite a bit about London's people, government, buildings and heritage. I particularly enjoyed History of London because two days each week it involved taking an educational field trip to a tourist attraction in London. On each field trip, my professor told us exactly how that particular attraction fit into London's history. This method of teaching turned beautiful buildings and amazing museums into living pieces of history, which made each field trip interesting and educational.

Aside from the classes I took while in London, I also made some great friends. It was so much fun to explore London with new and different people. Fresh ideas and new perspectives can be very refreshing, and I found it very beneficial to have ventured to London on my own...thus being required to make new friends to share in my London journey.

Not every part of my five weeks in London was perfect. There was the occasional frustration with professors and flashes of homesickness, but I wouldn't trade my London experience for anything in the world. Each struggle I faced only made me stronger, teaching me all the while about how to deal with obstacles independently, promptly and confidently. I look forward to returning to London, a city that welcomed me warmly, taught me unceasingly, and fascinated me continually.
