I can honestly say that my year at AIU London has significantly enhanced my college experience. I had amazing opportunities, in and out of the classroom. The campus and the student flats are in the heart of central London, walking distance from famous landmarks, shopping districts and parks.
I feel that after my time abroad, I have a competitive advantage over my classmates. I was able to take several unique classes (such as fashion illustration, fashion styling, couture millinery and trend forecasting) that are not offered at my university. The teachers are all industry professionals with great experiences and stories to share. My portfolio and resume are so much stronger because of my class work at AIU London.
The internship program at AIU is fantastic. My advisor took my interests and experience into consideration, and placed me in a studio that would best meet my needs. After an interview, I worked directly with a well-known fashion designer in his studio, and gained a lot of first-hand knowledge about the industry. In addition, I attended a regular class with my advisor to ensure that I was making the most of my placement.
Aside from the academics, my time in London was absolutely irreplaceable. AIU offers organized trips every term, and I traveled to Paris, Brussels, Chamonix, Wales, Stonehenge, Scotland, Rome, Krakow, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Valencia with friends from all around the world. I met some amazing people, and our time together was priceless.
I recommend AIU London study abroad to anyone interested in expanding and diversifying their college education. In my opinion, the staff, students and central London location are totally unbeatable. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I had the experience of a lifetime.
